PERSPECTIVES
Stories that shape us.
We are all shaped by the worlds we came from.
Our families. Our beliefs. Our cultures. Our communities. The rooms we were allowed into — and the ones we had to find our way out of.
Perspectives is a conversation series from Being Human, On Purpose that explores how people’s backgrounds, lived experiences, and personal journeys shape the way they see themselves, others, and the world around them.
This is not about proving who had it harder. It is not about having the “right” answer. It is not about turning someone’s life into a lesson.
It is about listening. It is about noticing. It is about remembering that every human is carrying a story we may not fully understand.
Have a story, background, or lived experience that might help others see humanity a little differently? I’d love to hear from you.
WHAT IS THE PERSPECTIVES SERIES
Different Lives.
Shared Humanity.
The Perspectives series invites guests from different backgrounds, belief systems, identities, cultures, careers, family structures, and life experiences to share how they became who they are today.
These conversations may explore things like:
The environment you were raised in
The beliefs, traditions, or expectations that shaped you
Moments that expanded or challenged your worldview
How your upbringing influenced your relationships, work, identity, or sense of belonging
What you had to unlearn, reclaim, or make peace with
How your story helps you understand other people differently now
The goal is not to debate, diagnose, or fix anyone.
The goal is to create space for honest, thoughtful conversation — the kind that makes someone pause and think, “Oh… I never considered it that way before.”
WHO IS THIS FOR
You Don’t Need a Perfect Story
You do not need to be famous. You do not need a polished personal brand. You do not need to have everything figured out.
You may be a good fit for the Perspectives series if you are willing to show up honestly and reflect on the experiences that shaped you.
This series is especially interested in stories connected to:
Culture, religion, spirituality, or belief systems
Family dynamics and generational patterns
Military, corporate, entrepreneurial, or service-based life
Identity, belonging, and feeling different from the world around you
Major life transitions, awakenings, or perspective shifts
Community, connection, and how people learn to understand one another
The gap between how you were raised and how you live now
The story does not have to be dramatic to matter. Sometimes the quiet realizations are the ones that change us the most.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The More We Understand Each Other, the Less Alone We Become.
So much disconnection happens because we assume we understand people before we ever ask where they came from.
We see someone’s opinion, reaction, fear, confidence, silence, anger, softness, ambition, or worldview — but we do not always see the story underneath it.
Perspectives exists because understanding does not require agreement.
We can listen without becoming the same. We can disagree without dehumanizing. We can tell the truth without turning each other into villains.
And maybe, when we hear more stories, we begin to move through the world with a little less judgment and a little more compassion.
That is the kind of humanity this series is here to practice.
